Aerial Swivel Elbows

Aerial swivel elbow joint

What makes this swivel unique from our competitors?

The new Amity Fire and Safety (AFS) aerial water swivel joint is designed and built in standard or custom swivel joint configurations and is machined and assembled in our Alburtis, PA facility.

Cast elbow is made of A356T6 aluminum alloy ASTM B26/B26M and the outer swivel race of 6061T6 aluminum material.  All components have a clear hard-coat anodized coating, .001 thickness.  The swivel assembly consists of (2) internal seals, (2) environmental seals, (1) acetal spacer and stainless steel balls.

The swivel was tested for 6000 cycles at a 90° CW rotation starting point and then a 90° CCW rotation back to the original starting point.  Three thousand cycles were run at temperatures of -40°F and 180°F.  Each elbow is independently hydrostatically tested to 450 PSI.

AFS teamed with an independent testing lab: HPS, West Deptford, NJ.  HPS reported, “The tested elbow swivel design and sealing system meets all system requirements for production.  It is our recommendation that Amity Fire & Safety evaluate the commercial advantages to going to market with this new product.”  To view elbow testing visit www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vx3uVwokRRU
