ASME Flow Nozzles
Discharge coefficient comparison of an Amity ASME flow nozzle with a custom flow nozzle.Amity Flow manufactures the ASME flow nozzle in accordance with ASME standards. Flow Nozzles are similarly to Venturi flow meters, except they have no pressure recovery exit cone. Flow Nozzles have no sharp edges in the flow stream to cause disruption in calibration or long term wear durability concerns. Nozzles are available in all standard forms - flanged, weld-in, holding ring, and throat tap and pipe wall tap types. Nozzles are also available in special shapes for unusual applications.
ASME flow nozzles, or Long radius nozzles come in 2 versions, known as the low beta ratio and high beta ratio designs. High beta nozzles are recommended for diameter ratios between 0.45 and 0.80. Low beta nozzles are recommended for diameter ratios between 0.20 and 0.50. For beta values between 0.25 and 0.5, either design may be used.
- The flow nozzle is recommended for steam flow and other high-velocity fluids, wet gases, and both clean and dirty liquids
- The rangeability is 4 to 1
- The relative pressure loss is medium
- Typical accuracy is 1-2% of full range
- Required upstream pipe length is 10 to 30 diameters
- The viscosity effect high
- The relative is medium
Available in various carbon and stainless steels as well as nickel, Monel, Inconel and Hastelloy. Custom materials and/or special coating are also available.
Within the Amity Computation Module we are able to engineer flow nozzles to the specific requirements of our clients while optimizing for accuracy, resistance to wear and minimal pressure loss. Our control from engineering through production assures the engineering specifications are realized in the calibration and performance of the final product.
